The consequences of the corona pandemic are also noticeable on the food banks in Germany. Almost 40 percent of the nationwide 960 food banks of the Tafel e.V. have more customers compared to the previous year, in many places the number has increased by up to 20 percent. It mainly affects people with ALG II reference and people on short-time work. The proportion of retirees has also increased significantly by 30 percent. Many of them did not need external help before the crisis.
With this year’s Christmas donation, we are supporting Tafel e.V. in the media locations of Berlin, Hamburg, Munich and Cologne.
