Which applications are cloud-compatible? Which applications can be operated economically and safely in which cloud usage model?

rbb – like many other media companies – is currently developing a cloud strategy for moving traditional IT applications as well as broadcast-specific applications into the cloud. A workshop moderated by FLYING EYE was used to determine the basic requirements for moving to the cloud, while also developing and testing the methodological framework for evaluating the applications’ cloud compatibility.

The first question had to do with the technical cloud compatibility of applications that were already in use, as well as planned new applications. Using a criteria catalog developed in the workshop, more highly prioritized applications were evaluated collectively. In a second pass, another criteria catalog was used to evaluate the operational and economical aspects of moving selected applications to the cloud.

In addition to facilitating the workshop, FLYING EYE also provided information about cloud service and cloud usage models. Another major element was presenting a current overview of cloud providers’ media-specific portfolios.
