A new MAM system for Deutsche Welle

Deutsche Welle commissioned FLYING EYE with comparing future-proof media asset management (MAM) systems as a preparatory basis for a competitive dialogue for introducing a new video production system for the Deutsche Welle sites in Bonn and Berlin and also worldwide.

Our work extended across two stages: In stage 1, we first compiled the criteria for evaluating future-proof MAM systems from a technical and editorial perspective, then we evaluated various systems on the market with regard to these criteria and developed a recommendation for action for Deutsche Welle.

In stage 2, we designed and supervised the competitive dialogue: Here we compiled the documents for completing the tender

  • Publication text
  • Description of the target vision
  • Formal, functional and technical approach and also the prospect of assessment criteria
  • Dialogue rounds
  • Methodology of collaboration
  • Expected delivery results

Subsequently, we worked on the detailed planning: number of dialogue rounds, topics for individual rounds including planning of the individual dialogue days, methodology for preparation and follow-up, specification of roles and tasks for performance, tooling for planning, performance and documentation of the dialogue rounds, methodology of the approach with the growing catalogue of criteria, proposals for the structure and design of the criteria catalogue and distribution of tasks between the various stakeholders and Deutsche Welle departments.

With our assistance, the broadcaster was able to perform a tailor-made competitive dialogue and acquire a strong partner for the introduction of the optimum video production system for its individual requirements.
