DeTeCSM - Introduction of a SAP R/3 based order profitability accounting
Since 1998, FLYING EYE has been authorized to implement a solution for DeTeCSM, a 100% subsidiary of Deutsche Telekom, in collaboration with mco consulting Ltd. DeTeCSM is responsible for all computing activities of Deutsche Telekom beginning with 1.1.1998 and it with its 5.000 employees it generates over 2 billion annual sales. In the meantime, not only Deutsche Telekom is part of the clientele, but also, amongst others, Lufthansa, Federal Employment Office and Rosenthal AG. That is a total of more than 200.000 computer terminals around the world to administrate.
Our contract comprises conception, introduction and monitoring of the final SAP R/3 based order profitability accounting. In doing so, FLYING EYE has developed a contribution margin scheme based on the SAP-Moduls CO, which enabled DeTeCSM for the first time to measure the economic success (via cost centre accounting and cost-unit accounting) for each of their more than 300 software applications that are operating for customers.
The implementation took place in early 1999, after a developmental period of only four months. It included the complete reorganisation of the internal cost allocation, which relied only on cost centre accounting. This had to be changed to a new accounting system and in many places, especially the supply of service hours, a current data collection solution had to be established.
The annual investment volume within the lower three-figure million range shall also be analysed with these tools.
In addition to that, the product costing and quotation costing procedure has to be reorganised. Within the next few weeks a tool based on Microsoft Access will be introduced.
The contract also includes developing a procedure for the preparation of a cost effective analysis of investments, which orients itself on the order profitability accounting and the new calculation schedule. In the future this will make it possible to provide decision memos for the annual investment volume within the lower three-figure million range.
